Mike Griffin

Operational Improvement

Mike Griffin is a Director at Asgaard specializing in operational improvement. He has 40 years of experience managing all aspects of healthy and distressed industrial manufacturing with expertise in the areas of labor relations, commercial contract negotiation, capital project and maintenance optimization, and process improvement. Mike is a creative leader who has held senior executive positions including board director, CEO, and president at various companies facing complex business challenges.


Most recently Mike was CEO and Board Director of Metals Recovery, where his responsibilities included a $300 million rebuild and restart of a recycled zinc smelter. He directed bankruptcy and full pre-petition sales processes at Inmetco, a recycled metals company, and held the position of Primary Aluminum President and VP of Manufacturing at Noranda Aluminum, where he was responsible for stabilizing a $500 million business and related facilities sales out of bankruptcy. Prior to Noranda, Mike was COO and VP of operations, then CEO, for the $600 million Ormet Corporation, an alumina/aluminum company forced into a Chapter 11 process and sales due to an increase in electricity prices. Early in his career, he held superintendent, operations manager, and plant manager positions at various Reynolds Metals Company and Alcoa plants.


Mike has a Bachelor of Science degree from Clarkson University, where he graduated with a major in Electrical Engineering and Power Systems.
